Please help! Need to pay for storage before it is all auctioned off.

Managed to stave off the auctioning of my household goods, for the moment. I'm still waiting for a decision on unemployment - hopefully that will only be a matter of days and they will decide in my favor.
I want to move up to Seattle. I have been in contact with several agencies up there and they claim that they can put me to work, even if it is temporary. Thing is, I have to be there to work. So, again, waiting on unemployment and hoping for help to move. I really wouldn't need that much, as it is only me at this point. I've been pricing apartments and looking at jobs online, but not actually being there is a hinderance. I'm ready to go, have finished my work here, but I need help getting the funds to move. I figure that about $3000 ought to do it - that would be the actual drive and renting an apartment, getting services turned on and such.
Anybody have any ideas? I am, by trade, an administrative assistant, so I can do paperwork for anyone. I have a degree (masters!) and want to get to work, but where I am right now, there simply are no jobs.

Please help! Need to pay for storage before it is all auctioned off.

Well, I haven't been here in a while. I ended up getting evicted from my apartment and moved from Texas to Oregon to stay with a friend. I'm still looking for work (it has now been over 2 years!) but, I have had interviews here, so things are looking up - or at least I like to think so. I find myself asking for help again, as when I left Texas I had to put all my stuff in storage. All my kids pictures and papers, all my school stuff & diplomas, furniture, kitchen stuff, the whole shebang. I was able to pay on it for several months, but now I am behind and I got the notice yesterday that I have until November 20th or it will all be sold at auction. I really don't think I could deal with that. After all that I have been through, all that I have overcome, all the sacrifices....that would truly be a final blow.
I owe about $300 at this point. To me it seems like a fortune. Perhaps if several people sent along parts of it, I could get enough caring people to help me pay it off. Please help me. I am still pushing along, trying to get work, looking in the Seattle area now and hoping that I can get a hand up in the world.

Have you consulted with the folks at St. Jude's for help with your kids?

please help me answer this question

I am pretty much i the same boat as you - single parent of three kids who went back to school to make a better way for myself. First off, understand that you did the right thing! No matter what you are studying, having an advanced degree is essential in this world. The time and effort you have put in will show potential employers that you have tenacity and are willing to go above and beyond for your dreams.

Now, in our current economic situation, your dream job may still seem far away. That is the situation I and many others are in at the moment. However, having been in this boat for a year now, I am beginning to see a turnaround. Things are beginning to improve. The job market is opening up a bit, so hang in there.

Since you are speaking of the future in your post, I have to ask if you would be willing to move out of Utah. I lived in Montana for a while - beautiful place, but no jobs. I moved to California, Arizona and Texas over the years and found that they had better job markets for me. You didn't say what you degree is in, but if you cannot move from Utah, perhaps looking at jobs in local government may be a good idea. Both State and Federal jobs have good pay and benefits. Municipal jobs also have decent salary and benefits, but they are a little more risky as municipalities are having to cut back of late - again, that may be a short term action and may reverse itself in the future, so you should keep that as a possibility.

To get through the "now" problems - you stated that you have a disabled son. Is he receiving any benefits from the state? If not, you need to look into that. Also look into the possiblity of his getting Social Secirity disability. It certainly can't hurt to look into what options may be available to you. Food banks can be helpful for more than food. They are often staffed by volunteers who know of other services that may be available to you, so ask questions if you go to visit one.

And hang in there with the prayers. Talk with your guardian angel. They are with you to help and only need to be asked. Just remember that they may take a bit of time to respond because they are not working the the sema realm as we are - thing stake a bit of time to transition. I found that after I began asking my guardian angel for help, things improved dramatically within t matter of weeks.

About jjs

I lost my job just over a year ago. I had worked for the same company for over 7 years and thought it would just be a short time before I got a new job. I have not had any luck getting a position that pays what the old one did and I am, in fact, working part time jobs just to try and keep the bills paid. I am a single mom and we have been evicted from one apartment already. I am behind in the rent at the new apartment and I also am behind in my car payments and the rest of my bills. I have been "robbing Peter to pay Paul" for the past year, and it seems to have caught up with me.

What I really need is a loan of about $5000. I have several good job prospects which would allow me to pay back a loan, but I need time. The car folks are telling me I have no more time on my loan, and the apartment folks are saying they will be filing for eviction soon, so I am really in a jam. My credit is sunk so I can't go to a bank and get a loan and I have sold everything of value that I can think of in order to pay bills over the past year. I really am in need of an angel to help me out at this point in time and I am hoping that through this post, I will be able to reach someone who can help me out.

UPDATE: November 2010

It has been a while since I visited here. I was evicted from my apartment and finally gave up on getting work in Texas. I have moved in with a friend in Oregon. Helped to rebuild her house and make it livable for the winter. I am living in a trailer - something I never really pictured myself doing - but it is a dry place for me and the cat. I am still looking for work, now primarily in Seattle, although I am still trying to find a way to get up there. Things have been really rough, needless to say. My kids are in Texas, living on their own. Thank God they are old enough to be on their own. But I do miss them, especially with the holidays coming up.

My goal is to get a job in Seattle and have all my household stuff moved up here. It is in storage, however, and I am currently behind on the payments. I have until November 20th to pay the $300 that is currently due to avoid them auctioning everything off. I'm hoping that I can get help from someone - or perhaps several someones - in order to keep everything.
